Corporate partnerships with PARA
Partnerships with other charities and businesses are so invaluable to the work we do at PARA.
With the help of The Brotherhood of St Laurence, we’ve been hosting a series of sessions with newly arrived Palestinians to help build their confidence and comfort with life in Australia.
In partnership with Life Saving Victoria, family beach days and swimming lessons taught newly arrived familied the critical importance of water safety in the Australian context in a fun and culturally inclusive way.
With Free to Feed, the Community Cooking Circle was an opportunity for our newly arrived Palestinian women to connect, and to momentarily forget.
Fundraising with Kon & ASRC
In September 2024, the incredible ASRC team hosted a charity lunch that transcended far beyond the sharing of food—it was a gathering of love, compassion and solidarity.
The $27,390 raised allows us to give 27 families a month of food vouchers. With 350-400 families being supported by PARA, this provide significant relief for Palestinians who have very recently arrived.
Having escaped the ongoing genocide, it means they don’t have to worry about putting food on the table while they find their way in a new country and look for work to support their families in the longer term.
But this event was not just about raising funds, it was about sharing a seat at the table. As our wonderful friend Kon says – “The best antidote to fear and hate, is love and community.”
Thank you Kon, and thank you to everyone who helped organise, donated and joined us.
