Volunteer for PARA
Volunteers are central to the work we do at PARA. We currently have over 60 volunteers who support the work we do – case managing Palestinians trying to travel to Australia, organising flights and accomodation, supporting newly arrived families, collecting furniture and connecting Palestinians with community in Australia.
Our volunteers go through a rigorous screening process and all volunteers are subject to a National Police Check, Working with Children Check and Reference Checks.
We are currently recruiting volunteers who might be able to help with any of the following:
- Have experience in clinical, mental health, social work or wellbeing case management (all states and territories), Arabic language skills are desirable but not essential
- Have a valid driver’s license and can courier and deliver goods (all states and territories)
- Have good administrative skills and can support governance, booking meetings, minute-taking, record keeping
- Can book flights and source short and long-term accommodation in Australia
If you would like to become a volunteer with PARA, please complete an Expression of Interest form. You will be required to provide two references (professional or character).
We are also looking for people and organisations who can help with language classes, orientation to living in Australia, introduction to employment, sporting events, education, arts or cultural experiences.
For many Palestinians right now, it is difficult to engage with things that were previously part of their everyday life. However, many families are asking for support with the education, social and wellbeing opportunities many Australians take for granted each day. If you think your organisation can help Palestinians become more familiar with life in Australia, please get in touch with us.
